ABTO is a non-profit organization without any government affiliations formed by tour operators who deal in the promotion of Buddhist-related destinations within the renowned “Buddhist Circuit” of India and Nepal or other places of importance across Asia. Having been formed to provide some semblance of organization and regulation to the Buddhist tourism sector, ABTO’s mission is to respond to the needs of the pilgrims and leisure tourists interested in Buddhist heritage.
ABTO has the following principal objectives:
Marketing and Promotion: The Association intends to promote Buddhist destinations to the global tourist to come there in hordes and give Buddhist sites and places of interest visibility on the international tourism map.
Standardization and Quality: The Association will ensure that high standards of service, hospitality, and professional competence are established and maintained amongst its members to ensure that visitors who come on any Buddhist tourism package have a good and authentic travel experience.
Advocacy and Development : In liaison with government agencies and tourism boards, improvement of infrastructure, facilities, and services will be advocated.
