Havelock (Swaraj Dweep)

Havelock Island is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the A & N Islands, known for its stunning beaches,m clear waters, & lush greenery. It is a haven for water sports enthusiasts, offering activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving & kayaking.

Its name was changed on December 30,2018 when PM Narendra Modi visited the islands & made an announcement to rename it as Swaraj Dweep.

Swaraj Dweep is one of the most famous places in A & N Islands which consists of the most beautiful places in the world. The sandy beaches & crystal clear water of the ocean leaves an amazement for viewers & visitors. 

There are accommodation options for tourists to stay in these islands during their vacation. Beach No.3 & Beach No. 5 offers a range of luxury resorts among these islands. Internet connectivity has improved a lot among these places after laying the undersea cable.

Attractive Beaches in Swaraj Dweep

a.Radhanagar Beach

Radhanagar Beach is also known as Beach No.7, is one of the most famous beaches on Havelock Island. It is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, with powdery white sands, crystal- clear waters, & lush greenery surrounding the beach. The beach is a popular spot for swimming , sunbathing & enjoying the picturesque sunsets.

b.Kalapathar

Kalapathar Beach is another beautiful & less crowded beach on Havelock Island, located at a short distance from Radhanagar Beach. The beach is known for its stunning black rocks (hence the name “Kalapathar”, which means black rock in Hindi) & clear blue waters.

c.Elephant Beach

Elephant Beach is another popular destination on Havelock Island, known for its vibrant coral reefs & diverse marine life. Visitors can take a boat or trek through the jungle to reach the beach, where they can enjoy activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving & kayaking.

d.Govind Nagar Beach

Govind Nagar Beach is one of the wonderful beaches in Swaraj Dweep yet it’s a secluded spot among these islands where only few tourists used to visit. There are several resorts along Govind Nagar Beach which could be easily affordable under your budget. The beach is filled with crystal clear water, pristine white sands. You are able to easily enjoy your leisurely walks offering stunning views of sunrises & sunsets over the Bay of Bengal.

Other Tourist Attractions

There are other attractions rather than beaches in Swaraj Dweep : 

Japanese Hill : Where you would like to have a jungle safari experiencing deep dense forests encountering the flora & fauna. 

Mangrove Forests : For those who wish to have kayaking among these mangrove creeks exploring the unique ecosystem & spotting different species of birds. 

The Dive Master : A popular destination for scuba divers,providing access to various diving sites like Seduction Point, Turtle Bay, Aquarium & Lighthouse.

Havelock Lighthouse : This area could be easily reached by the 30-minutes boat ride from the main dock on Havelock. It is known as the “Oldest Lighthouse of Havelock”.

I had toured Andaman Islands through Andaman Emerald Holidays. Mr. Probin and his team gave me one of the best holidaying experience. My itinerary was custom made and covered almost all attractions like Cove , Ross, Havelock, Neil Islands. Cellular Jail, Sound & Light show. The accommodations were the best and food was like you name it and you get that. Water sports like snorkelling, paragliding & banana rides were amazing and fun. Andaman tour packages are truly value for money. Our driver come guide was really humble. We have visited to all the tourists’ places. Despite booking them last minute they made everything seamless, from picking us up from the airport to drop back to the airport. There customer care supports Ms. Sarita was coordinating with us throughout our trip.
