Cellular Jail :

Located at Port Blair, stood mute witness to the tortures meted out to the freedom fighters, who were incarcerated in this Jail. The Jail, completed in the year 1906 acquired the name, ‘cellular’ because it is entirely made up of individual cells for the solitary confinement of the prisoners. It originally was a seven pronged, puce-colored building with central tower acting as its fulcrum and a massive structure comprising honeycomb like corridors.

Ross Island :

Viper Island :

Viper Island a small serene, beautiful island “Viper Island” witnessed the untold sufferings the freedom fighters had to undergo. Dangerous convicts found guilty of violating the rules of the Penal Settlement, were put in fetters and were forced to work with their fetters on in this island. The jail called Viper Chain Gang Jail at Viper island, where prisoners deported from the mainland during British Regime.

MOUNT HARRIET :

It is the highest peak in the South Andamans (365 metres high). One can trek up to Madhuban through a nature trail and can find rare endemic birds, animals and butterflies. The scene of this peak is also printed on the backside of Rs.20. During British Raj, this highest peak was established as the summer headquarters of the Chief Commissioner. This place is an ideal for a nice and a fascinating over view of the outer islands and the sea.

CHATHAM SAW MILL :

This Saw Mill is one of the largest and oldest Saw Mill in Asia, built on a tiny island, is connected to Port Blair by a bridge. It is a store-house of timber like Padauk, Gurjan, Marble, Satin Wood, etc. This Mill was built by the British Govt. in 1883. This island has the second largest wharf of these islands, where Island – mainland ships can berth.

An independent Island with a wide beach (Radha Nagar Beach) recorded the seventh best beach in Asia. This island is about 38 Kms from Port Blair, that’s provides idyllic resort in the lap of virgin beach and unpolluted environment. The Anthropological Museum at Port Blair presents culture of Andaman Tribes.It was started in 1975-1976, the museum is an enthographic museum.It illustrates the four Negrito Tribes of the Andamans, viz.., the Jarawas, Sentinelese, Great Andamanese and the Onges and two Mongoloid tribes of the Nicobar viz…,the Nicobarese and the Shompens.

MAHATMA GANDHI MARINE NATIONAL PARK :

The Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park at Wandoor comprises 15 small and large islands, creeks and open sea spread across 280 sq. km. It includes mangrove creeks, tropical rain forests, more than fifty types of corals, and rare under-water marine life. Glass bottom boats and snorkels are available on hire to watch these colourful marine life.
