Karmatang Beach is located 12 kms away from Mayabunder in Middle Andaman. It takes around 20 minutes to reach the silver sand beach from the town centre. You can’t swim here as the water is muddy but there are several other attractions to keep you busy.
The beach is surrounded by mangrove trees and you can certainly soothe your eyes with the greenery all around. There are multiple shades and hammock readily available in case you want to catch your breath. The palm trees lining the beach also provide cool shade from the sun.
Karmatang is also called the Turtle’s Paradise because it is the nesting place of the sea turtles. You can see them laying eggs or moving on the beach if you are in luck! You can even enjoy a picnic with your friends and family in the nearby park.
Evenings are most lovely time in the Karmatang Beach!
Lalaji Bay Beach
Lalaji Bay Beach is one of the popular destinations in Long Island but you rarely find it crowded. The beach can be reached by trekking one and half hour from the jetty. You have to follow the red arrow signs to reach this secluded spot of white sand beach and turquoise water.
Boats are also available from the jetty and you need to pay an entry free to the Forest Department for visiting the beach.
The calm water makes the beach perfect for snorkeling and swimming. You can witness the interesting marine life and chill in the summer sun in the cool water. The beach doesn’t have any facility so you have to carry your own drinking water and refreshments.
The beach is ideal for both nature lovers and adventure junkies.
Hut Bay Beach
You have to travel to Little Andaman to visit Hut Bay Beach in Hut Bay Island. The journey from Port Blair takes around 8 to 9 hours on boats leaving from Phoenix Jetty.
Hut Bay Beach is a wonderful destination with a lovely beach and clear blue water. You can enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the water or relax with a book on the beach. The beach is also famous for two beautiful waterfalls which you can find nearby- the white surf waterfalls and whisper wave waterfalls.
If you feel energetic around you can also trek to the top of the waterfall and take a dip in the natural pool. Budget accommodations are available in the island but you won’t find luxury resorts.
