Andaman and Nicobar Festivals and Fairs

The Andaman is not only a nature’s paradise! It’s also a great venue to experience vibrant and exciting festivals and fairs. You can find different programs organized by the Andaman Tourism Department all through the year to entertain the visitors and have a good time together.

1. Island Tourism Festival

Starts: January 5th 
Duration: 15 days 
The Island Tourism Festival is the greatest and biggest festivals taking place in Port Blair and islands of Havelock, Neil, Diglipur, Rangat and others. The event is heavily attended by tourists for the different activities and shows it features. 
You can enjoy cultural programs by the EZCC, live music concerts with local artists, dance shows, drama, sports events and many more fun events. The fair is held in the ITF ground in Port Blair which also has 
• Handicrafts and arts stalls 
• Sumptuous food courts 
• Floating restaurants 
• Fun activities and games for children 
• Baby contests

2. Beach Festival

Starts: April 
Duration: 3 days

Different beaches in Andaman take the responsibility to host the Beach Festival every year in April. You can experience live cultural program and events such as sand sculpture along with delicious food courts. 
Many sporting events are also arranged depending on the location of the beach. You can participate in volleyball, kabaddi, coconut tree climbing and tug of war while the kids can take part in events like musical chair. Sometimes you may also find display of Navy boats which is really interesting.

3. Monsoon Music Festival

Starts: August 
Duration: 3 days

The Monsoon Festival has become quite popular with the travelers who choose to visit the islands during the rainy season. Generally the event takes place in ITF ground in Port Blair though locations can vary year to year. 
The Music Festival has also become synonymous with the Monsoon Festival where you can experience musical concerts, dance programs and even DJ sets. The event also provides opportunity to showcase the indigenous handicrafts, art and culture through cooking shows, handicrafts and other avenues. 
Impressive shows are also arranged by Indian Navy, Air Force, Army and the Coast Guard which express the might of the country. It’s a great program for kids who just love to see the boats and ships of the navy!

4. Flea Market

The weekly flea market is organized every Saturday and Sunday in different location mainly in Port Blair. The market is crowded by tourists on one hand; while on the other locals come to sell of their items. 
You can find handicraft stalls, booths serving local cuisines, displays by NGOs and different stakeholders in the tourism industry. Fun activities like mini golf, roller skates and other events are also organized from time to time. 
You should visit the flea market to get a firsthand experience of Andaman and its people!

5. Food Festival

Starts: September 
Duration: 4 days

The mouth watering event is organized every year at the ITF ground to offer the culinary delights of the islands to the visitors. The Andaman Tourism Department arranges multiple stalls each with their own flavour and taste to intrigue your taste buds! 
It’s a must visit for foodies!

6. World Tourism Day

Date: 27th September

The Andaman Tourism Department celebrates the World Tourism Day in style in Port Blair with different activities for the guests. You can enjoy the food and musical programs arranged as part of the event. Sometime you can also find a flea market featuring local items and handicrafts.

7. Andaman Film Festival

Starts: November 
Duration: 3 days

The 3 day long annual film festival organized in Andaman is a must for the movie buffs! Various movies and documentaries are screened for the enjoyment of tourists and the islanders. The event also gives an opportunity to the local talent to gain exposure and develop a career in the film industry.
